Loreto College Coorparoo
As another year comes to a close and as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Loreto, another Jacaranda blossoms. The trees thrive in the tropical climate of Coorparoo Brisbane, just as we girls thrive in our Loreto community.
Our display box is centred around the theme of Pearls, Planets, and Possibilities. The pearls resemble wisdom and beauty, reminiscent of the Jacaranda tree.
In the same way the planet is representative of rebirth and resilience, just like the Jacaranda trees that decorate our school. Resilience creates possibilities that blossom.
Much like a Jacaranda tree endures harsh weather such as storms, floods and the blazing heat of Coorparoo, still it thrives. Its beauty ignited and spread throughout the school.
Year 12s have the unique experience of entering their final exams just as the Jacaranda flowers bloom. All of us experience that special sense of closure as the school year draws to an end with the cycle of the Jacaranda tree. We experience our milestones of the Jacarandas that bloom across our campus.
Loreto Coorparoo embraces the values of Mary Ward so that we can bloom until the end of our Loreto journey, just like the flowers. Each Loreto value connects the Jacaranda:
Felicity at the sight of the Jacarandas bloom,
Sincerity with every flower that drifts from the trees branches,
Verity as we grow in truth among the trees,
the Freedom of the Jacaranda tree to extend its branches to the heavens,
and seeking Justice within the Loreto community allowing us to adapt and grow much like the trees.
Every Loreto Coorparoo student leaves this place with the bud of the Jacaranda tree in our hearts that we take with us wherever we go.
